SURVIVAL GUIDE

Just a few quick steps to make your wedding photos
look just as amazing as your memories.

1. LET'S GET ORGANIZED HERE

Send us the schedule. Photos take time. We want to make sure you have enough of it.

2. BUFFER TIME

Always allow more time than you need as things usually run behind on a wedding day. You look relaxed when you feel relaxed.

3. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

Getting ready locations. Find a spot as unique as your wedding. Look for natural lighting and places that have inspiring design.

4. ALL ABOUT THAT LIGHT, YO

Golden hour – light is best closest to sunset. That’s when we get those magical photos.

5. YEAH, SERIOUSLY

Bowties. If the guys are wearing them, make sure there is a pro-bowtie-putter-on’er in the group. If not, tie them all the night before.

6. JUST LIST IT OUT

To give us time to shoot all the different combinations of family photos, make sure we have a list of what you want ahead of time. We’ve found that smaller combinations are better than large group combinations. Eight people or less is ideal.

7. WE DON'T KNOW ANYONE

We could study your family’s photos on facebook to remember all there names, but that would be time consuming, and quite creepy. So please designate a family photo wrangler to get everyone where they need to be.

8. WE NEED FOOD TOO

We need to eat when you eat. We don’t want to miss the first dance cause we’re sucking down chilean seabass. Most caterers will try to serve us after dinner, which means less photos for you, and tummy aches for us. Please talk to whoever is in charge of catering and let them know. They usually don’t listen to us.

9. OUR PHOTOS > THEIR PHOTOS

Tell Uncle Ned the aspiring photographer to keep it in his pants. People getting pictures with cellphones and cameras mean that there will be cellphones and cameras in the pictures. Don’t worry, all of our photos will be available for viewing, downloading, and printing afterward to any guest.

10. INSURANCE

If your venue requires a certificate of insurance, please tell us asap. It takes a few days to for our people to send it to their people.

11. TIME

20-30 minutes for bridal party photos. 20-30 minutes for family photos. Prioritize. You might not need that shot with all the second cousins. Groups of about 8 or smaller work best. For the shots of just you guys (the couple), we need at least 45 minutes. The farther we go away from the venue, the more time we’ll need.

12. FIRST LOOK

To first look or not to first look, that is the question. We encourage our couples to do a first look (see each other before the ceremony) since that means we don’t have to steal you for very long once the partying starts. If you’re really against the idea, just be ready to miss a chunk of your cocktail hour.

13. DON'T GET BLINDED

If you’re having an outdoor ceremony, make sure you check where the sun will be at the time of day the ceremony is taking place. We don’t want one of you to be blinded by the sun as you’re being asked to read your vows.

WHEN THE PARTY IS OVER

We just shot your wedding. Now what? For photos, most of the time we edit and send our favorites within a week. Just to tide you over. Then we go into our cave and edit away until they are all finished. We’ll post them to our print shop and boom, they’re yours. Also, we’ll send you a thumb drive with all your final edited photos in full and web resolution. For videos, we edit, choose the music, then post to vimeo. We’ll send you a package with a thumb drive of all the footage and dvd / blu-ray of the edited video. If you have a strong preference for the song let us know right away. The longest you will wait for everything is 3 months. If you love the photos, give us a shout / credit on social media. A few words go a long way.
